A crucial skill in poker is identifying and classifying how your opponents play. Whether or not the right decision is to fold, call or raise to some ones bet depends on what kind of a player the bettor is. Does he play every hand or does he only bet when he has Aces? Is he capable of bluffing? Does he semi-bluff with draws? These are the types of questions that a poker player has to answer. Classifying the style of play of their opponents is a good place to start. Generally, there are 4 main types of playing styles: Tight-Aggressive, Tight-Passive, Loose-Aggressive and Loose-Passive.
Tight Aggressive
Tight-Aggressive is generally the most popular playing style of good players on Carbon Poker. They do not play many hands, but when they do, they play very aggressively. Pre-flop, you will not see them limping into pots, they will only be opening for a raise. Post-flop, they are not going to be check-calling. Instead, they are going to be betting out and raising your bets. This style is hard to play against because you always have to fear them check-raising your bets, so it is difficult to get value out of your winning hands unless you have a monster. They will play their hands the same way, whether they hit or miss.
Loose Aggressive
These players like to play many hands. Despite this fact, they play all the hands they play very aggressively. Like the tight-aggressive player, they do not limp pre-flop, and they do not check-call post-flop. This is also a very difficult style to play against, because it is even harder to tell when they hit the flop – since they play so many hands. With the tight-aggressive player, you can usually assume they have either high cards or a medium-big pair, but with loose-aggressive players, they could be playing suited connectors, small pairs, big cards, small cards and anything in between.
Tight Passive
These CarbonPoker players are generally not good. They do not play many hands, and when they do, they are not aggressive, so they do not get a lot of value out of their hands. Pre-flop, they limp a lot, and will only raise huge hands. Post-flop, instead of betting and raising, they are mostly checking and calling. These are not difficult players to play against.
Loose Passive
These players are considered the worst players. They play many hands and when they do, they are not aggressive. These players are also known as Calling-Stations. They limp into lots of pots with bad hands, and even when they hit on the flop, they do not get value out of their hands. Against these players, ABC poker will win you lots of money.
